Muller Geological Services

Transforming Challenges into Discoveries

Muller Geological Services (MGSC) is a family-run consultancy dedicated to solving geological challenges and advancing historic mining and exploration projects. Our specialisation is in Ni and Au systems, with additional experience in Cu and Pb-Zn systems.

Traditional methods complement modern technology, providing increased geological capacity and new ways for project advancement.  We present these techniques as enhancements that work alongside cutting-edge technology to deliver comprehensive geological solutions.

Our personalised approach ensures each client receives dedicated, high-quality service, helping them realise the full potential of their sites.

Our mission

Adding value for clients by unlocking the full potential of projects through data collation, verification, validation and geological interpretation.  We work seamlessly with internal geological teams on core projects or can progress projects which may not be your immediate focus.

At Muller Geological Services we strive to unlock the full potential of historic mining projects by combining in-depth traditionally-based geological expertise with modern technological advancements. Our comprehensive solutions help overcome the challenges that can slow a project's progress, enabling sustainable growth and success in the mining industry.

MGSC stands by our reputation and recognises that not all projects are suitable for our specialised services. During an initial, no-obligation review, we will assess your project to determine if we can add value. If we believe the project can be advanced, or we can identify reasons why it cannot, we will provide a general scope of work for your review and approval.

The Muller Geological Story

Bridging the capability gap in the mining industry.

Rapid technological advancements, high staff and company turnover, and a lack of mentoring and development have created a shortage of foundational geological expertise. While innovation and technology have been remarkable, they have overshadowed the foundational work required for detailed data interpretation. As a result, geologists often lack time or capacity needed for effective geological interpretation, relying instead on powerful software to handle basic tasks.

This over-reliance on technology, combined with staff shortages, knowledge gaps and constrained resources, can lead to outcomes that may slow project's advancement.

Sometimes a project can lose momentum not from lack of understanding or knowledge but rather it was not the primary focus of the company. Over time, knowledge about its potential may be lost, leaving no clear narrative to revitalise interest and unlock opportunities.

Returning to Fundamental Geological Practices

To reinvigorate a historic project, we need to return to the fundamentals:

  • Understanding the data,

  • Manually interpreting cross-sections, and

  • Presenting geological findings in a way that highlights untapped potential.

By presenting targets with robust geological support and quantifying their value and likelihood of discovery, we can transform how projects are perceived and, often, give projects new life.

Muller Geological Services was established to address capability and communication gaps, unlocking historic projects by integrating traditional techniques with modern technology.

Our goal is to enhance communication, quantify value, and provide comprehensive support to reinvigorate historic projects and realise their full potential.

Data Integrity: The Foundation of Successful Projects

MGSC starts with database verification and validation, followed by data collation and robust section based 3D geological interpretation. This geological interpretation is then integrated into a targeting model and targeting matrix to assess the project’s potential, likelihood of success, and necessary steps for advancement.

By identifying missing elements and starting with the project's current status MGSC breathes new life into the project with new ideas and opportunities to advance. This service, called Data Integrity Assessment, is the cornerstone of MGSC’s offerings.

MGSC addresses issues related to fragmented or inherited datasets as projects and companies change hands by verifying, validating and organising all data sources for easy interpretation. Some traditional processes, like drillhole coding and longsection analysis, have been overlooked as technology advances, but they remain critically effective and are part of this service.

MGSC delivers outputs in various formats to suit client needs, including professionally imaged PowerPoint presentations and documented reports. These industry-focused outputs are practical and concise, covering what you have, what it means, and the opportunities available. Background information is assumed to be known and not provided unless specifically requested.

MGSC provides this service in three ways:

  1. Data Integrity Assessments : Comprehensive geological assessments to reinvigorate historic geological projects.

  2. Data Collation and Organisation: Streamlining and organising data for easy geological interpretation.

  3. Processes and Training: Mentoring staff in essential geological skills and processes.

Mark Muller
Expert in Mineral Systems and Geological Problem-Solving

Muller Geological Services (MGSC) was founded by Mark Muller, an expert geologist with over 30 years of experience in the mining industry and an MSc in Ore Deposit Geology and Evaluation.

Mark’s long career has been heavily focused on technical excellence fulfilling his passion for discovery, understanding mineral systems and complex geological problem-solving. Specialising in nickel (Ni) and gold (Au), Mark also has experience in copper (Cu) and lead-zinc (Pb-Zn) systems.

His career highlights include co-receiving the prestigious AMEC Prospector of the Year award for the Cassini nickel discovery in 2020. This achievement, along with other significant discoveries, has allowed Mark to work on projects from inception to production. His extensive experience has provided him with a profound understanding of what success looks like, as well as valuable insights into the common roadblocks geological projects face throughout their lifecycle.

Mark blends proven traditional geological techniques with modern technology to unlock new value in historic projects and help clients realise the full potential of their sites.

Supported by his wife, Leora, who manages the administrative side of the business, MGSC operates as a home-based, family-run consultancy. This personalised approach ensures that each client receives tailored, hands-on service.
